Teaching Phoneme Segmentation
Teaching reading seems pretty simple, right?
Teach your child the letter names. Then the sounds to those letter names. And then blend those sounds into words.
But what if your child can’t hear the three separate sounds in the word, cat? This is where many of the troubles struggling readers, especially dyslexic readers start. They lack phonological processing. These words seem big and complicated, but its really not.
